4th of July Wreath

Today, I finally finished a wreath that I'd been working on for the 4th of July. It's really simple to make, but a little time consuming. I also ended up with a blister from tying fabric knots. In the end though, it is worth it . 1 blister = 1 pretty wreath! Yeah, I'm happy!

Items needed : A wire wreath frame,  3 yards of linen fabric, scissors.

This type wreath looks good when made with burlap too!

Begin by cutting your fabric in strips that measure about 6" x 1".

Next, tie each piece of fabric to the wire frame. After I tied a few strands, I would then slide them tightly together. Only tie strands to the 3 inside rings; leave the outside ring as is.

See how tightly they are scrunched together?

Now I can use the outside ring to hang my wreath.

I love the suction cup wreath hangers which is what I used for this wreath. A.C. Moore's has a nifty wreath holder that is a magnet. It comes in 2 pieces ...1 piece for each side of the window.  It 's made for when you want to hang a wreath on a window or door that has glass. I think I'm going to get one and try it out. I'll let ya know if it was worth the $.

After finishing my wreath, I decided to embellish it. I made various sized fabric yo-yo's out of 2 different prints of fabric. One is a 4th of July print. It is a combination of a toile pattern and flags. The other is an accent color that I chose to compliment the flags in the first fabric.

 These fabric yo-yo's are easy to make.

 I'll post a tutorial on how to do them.


Hmmmm...something is missing!

After looking at my wreath, I felt like it needed something to offset the plainness (is that a word?) of the top yo-yo. I had several tags and stickers left from other projects... so, this is what I came up with. Sometimes you gotta use what you have!

Tah - dah!!

Now that's more like it!

 I think it turned out rather "chic"!

Next on my craft list is table decor' for the 4th of July!
