Antiqued Door

The Door...

This is the old door.  I think it is about 20 years old. As you can see it very weathered. I'm hoping I can use that to my advantage. All of the varnish was pretty much worn away so I didn't need to sand. Yeah! I did use blue painters tape though to tape off the glass and door knob.

I used Valspar Gloss Cherry paint (1 quart ) for the door.

 It took about 3 coats because the wood was really soaking it up.

To antique the door I used American Tradition 

Faux Antiquing Glaze (asphaltum 98278).

All you do is brush it on and then use 

a soft cloth to wipe off the excess.

 Make sure you follow the grain.

Voila!  Finished! Now it just needs a wreath!

Faux Finished Walls

I love to do faux painting......these are my bathroom walls.

This was done by first painting the walls cream....

Next, I used a plastic grocery bag to apply a brownish glaze.  I scrunched the bag into a ball shape and then dipped it in the glaze that was on the lid of the container. 

After applying the glaze, I went back with a foam stamp and cream paint to make a pattern.  It's okay if the  stamp doesn't make a perfect print...that just adds to the character and charm!
