Oil painting to Christmas Card!!
This is Joey's latest oil painting. It makes me want to snuggle up with a hot cup of cocoa!! We had cards printed with the picture on the front and used them as our Christmas cards this year! They turned out so cute!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

Ironton Artists Association ~ Fall Art Show
Today, we spent the afternoon enjoying art from local artists in the tri-state area. The Ironton Artists' Association hosted its annual fall art show at Central Christian Church in Ironton, Ohio. Their art show is one of the few that has a children's division.
My son, Joey, and my nephew, Allen, each entered three works of art. I'm proud to say that Joey received 2 ribbons. One ribbon was 2nd place for his Mother's Day painting and the other was an honorable mention for his still life painting.

Allen painted this by looking at a person modeling for his art class. I love it!
Bravo!!
Waiting for the judges' results.... We look thrilled don't we? LOL
1st and 3rd place in the children's division. These were done by a girl who is 17 years old. Great work!

Sheepdog ~ Oil on Canvas
Joey was excited to start his oil painting classes again yesterday. He spent the summer relaxing and enjoying himself. Now he is back to painting!
If you have read my blog before then you know that we own an Old English sheepdog named Lord Dunmore. Joey decided that Lord Dunmore would be a great subject to paint.

I think this turned out so cute!
Joey and his cousin Allen are going to be in
an art show this weekend. I can't wait
to share photos with you.

Happy Mother's Day!
Roses for my mom....shhh, don't tell!
a day for celebrating the one you call mother, mom, mommy, or perhaps momma.
So, hats off to all those who have...
read stacks of bedtime stories...
gave butterfly and Eskimo kisses...
cut the crust off sandwiches...
watched re-runs of Blues Clues until your eyes cross and you can say every word in your sleep...
ate pancakes for dinner...
rocked a child to sleep, but then kept rocking just so you could hold him/her a little longer...
tripped over toys and stepped on lego (OUCH!)...
had refrigerators covered with art...
calmed a crying child...
put a band aide on a "boo boo"...
tried to be in 2 places at once (or even 3)...
cleaned up a multitude of messes including puke...
changed wet crib sheets at 2 am...
played "Ring Around the Rosy" until you were dizzy...
built beautiful Sand Castles at the beach...
washed sticky little hands...
waved Bye -Bye as your little one started Kindergarten...
tried to explain that sometimes "kids are just mean" ...
stayed up late waiting for Mr. or Miss Teen to arrive home safely...
held on for dear life while their son/daughter practiced driving...
been exhausted and worn down...
cried and laughed...
have felt guilt (no guilt ladies!)
have loved a child more than anyone could imagine.
Me and my kiddos!
For Mother's Day my youngest kiddo (now 12 years old) did an oil painting for me !!! I just love it!

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once grown up." Pablo Picasso
My 12 year old son is taking oil painting lessons from a local artist and from his very talented grandfather. These are a few of his recent paintings.
